A Henna to Remember - March 3, 2011

Henna Brand - Jamilia

Indigo - from Allindiastore.com

I am no longer a Henna Virgin. I mixed my henna about 2 weeks ago. I added 2 cups of hot black tea, Paprika, Yes to carrots mud mask, sugar, Amla Oil and orange juice splash. I froze it and took it out today, I washed dried and applied my henna generously. I left it on for 4 hours, Rinsed well with a conditioner I don't use. Washed with Motions Shampoo, and rinsed.

I applied the Indigo, left on for 1 and a half hours. NOW that was a beast, I mixed it way to thin, just water seamed to thick at first then I emptied the rest but it seemed like to much. I applied it and then placed a cap. I felt like I was wiping my neck for ages and my face. I was so glad to rinse it out. I let Mr. feel it. He said it felt rough but strong. I washed it with Hair one Cleanser. Rinsed well and shampooed with HO Argan oil again. Rinsed and steamed 30 minutes with Alter Ego Garlic Conditoner. BUTTERY soft, Needed to make sure my moisture level was up so I put in Silk Elements Megasilk Moisturizing Treatment for 2 hours.

My hair still felt like it had build up so I waited 3 days until after the oxidation period was over.

I whipped out my WEN and pumped several pumps into my hand. Then proceeded to cleanse my hair. I detangled added Wen Intensive Re Moist Treatment for 15 hours overnight, I rinsed it after leaving it on overnight and then applied ALTER EGO garlic conditioner for 3-4 hours. I rinsed and WOW oh what a feeling.

THE HENNA was now leaving my hair to a beautiful state and the color was so gentle and not box color looking.

I was a little dissappointed before rewashing my hair. Afterwards Now I can't wait for my next Henna!

Please feel free to visit www.mehandi.com this site gives you a free print out of wonderful directions on how to do this process. Everyone does it differently and you will tweek it the way you choose to after learning the basics.

No Drama Just this Lovely Gals honest opinion.

UP and Coming - 2/16/2011

What we are going to be doing:

  • HENNA - First time experience

  • Braid outs

  • Bantu Knot outs

  • Bunning of some sort

  • Soft Roller sets :)

Okay so I am still up in my braids and last night I sprayed with my Nu-Gro Spray and greased my scalp (which I only do when in corn rows) with Nu-Gro professional Hair-Gro Oil. NO, I don't think it makes your hair grow any faster, NO I don't think it helps with balding or thinning hair. I just really love the ingredients in this product. The greases only demon is Petrolatum which is the first ingredient but the rest are pure heavenly herbs. The Spray has no Petrolatum and is all heavenly herbs. The smell is amazing. My hair stays baby soft with the spray it is very good. YEt they did raise their prices so a sister is going to have to start looking for a new pair of shoes LOL.

I mixed my henna. I bought two I bought Lush Caca Noir and Jamila Henna from the indian grocer. I mixed the Jamila with Hot Black tea, Paprika, Amla oil 2 caps full, Sugar, Yes to carrots ( a conditioner that I am not repurchasing but must use up). It was definitely looking like sick poop. I stirred it up and at the end cut and orange squoze it into the mix, stirred it again and then put the top on it to sitfor a few hours. After the color came to I sat it in the freezer. I won't be using this concoction until July, I know so long away. I was just very excited watching videos and I was very amped up LOL

March I will not be wigging it, YAY, and the crowd cheers. I will be trying my hand again at braid outs. I will also be doing Bantu Knot outs but those I do with ease, Soft roller sets- again no issue, and I will be whipping out my spin pins and bunning for fun.

I will post pictures :) Of my mix, my styles and more. One day I will be able to do videos and that will be awesome for now, I will talk and type you to death. Smile with me please.

My review for March will be on Lush Henna Caca Noir. Until Next time.

Tangle TEEZER - Is it the Crowd Pleaser? :) - February 9, 2011

Okay I promised it and it is long over due. The review of the Tangle Teezer.

The Tangle Teezer claims to be great for kids, carefree detangling, smooth cuticles, and work for all hair types.
The Tangle Teezer is Sold at Sallybeauty.com or at your local Sally Beauty supply store. It comes in 3 colors at Sally Pink, Black, or Purple with sparkles :) (They have other colors you can order at other stores online) The cost of the TT is $10 @ Sally's.

This Palm sized computer mouse with fragile teeth.... Yeah it is suppose to do all of these things and it looks like this. Hmmmmm.

Well upon taking it out of the pack I figured hey I bought it; might as well give it a try.
So I did.

I wet my hair washed it with my Hair One OO, grabbed my TT and brushed through my hair. Boy did it just glide through. Okay that could have been a fluke, so I put on my DC got under the steamer and when done rinsed and brushed through again. THIS TOOL is kinda Noisy and scary it may sound like it is ripping through your hair, but ripping through it is not. It is a sound tool but very much of the tool they advertise.

AWESOME, I lost less hair than if I used my Jumbo Rake Comb.

I have used this about 4 times now, and own quite a few. I have the same quality of detangling every time.

My best test was when I came from under braids that I had in for 3 weeks. Usually I get a sink full of hair larger than a golf ball balled up but slightly small than a baseball. NOT COOL.

I took my braids out gently and then immediately ran my TT through. Within 3 passes per spot my hair was detangled like I used some expensive quality detangler. This item is so worth the cash $10. I lost less hair and barely any when washing.

This Tangle Teezer is DEFINITELY a Crowd pleaser. If you haven't tried it you should. I was a doubter and a Non-Believer. I am now changed and SO HAPPY I did.
